This jewellery celebrates the proud culture behind the Nigerian threading hairstyles. Hair threading has its roots tracing back to the 15th century. It has in recent years fallen out of fashion. This shiny black cotton thread is referred to as Owu in Yoruba language in Nigeria. The jewel gives a nostalgic feeling of her childhood and youth. This jewellery shape, design and texture is reminiscent of the Owu “thread for hair” design which is sprung around a carved white cardboard paper with curved edges. These pieces are made with durable brass base with stainless steel pin, black thread with 18 karat thick gold plating.
